“Successful projects begin with a good design” - Marc Caballero

One week ago, Exist put on the first in a series of webinars, called “Pinoy Web Designer’s Toolkit” with Marc Caballero. This is part of our Interactive Development Services Campaign and support to our local web developers. It was the first webinar that I co-presented since coming to Exist, and as an online marketer, the topic on web design is really close to home for me. The team and our speaker Marc Caballero was excited and interested to see how it would go. More than 70 people registered for the event so we’re off to a great start. We are also confident that almost all attendees watched our live webinar with interest since most stayed during the entire session and we had a 57% Average Attentiveness among them. Thanks for staying engaged!

The webinar covered in a nutshell several tips and tricks on web designing and presented a selection of design tools used by some of our Filipino developers. It was an information-packed hour with a brief question and answer period.

Marc started off with a walk-through on definition of web design and a brief intro on web design tools, which he described “tools of traditional” (i.e. photoshop, corel, freehand, etc) vs “tools of interactive” (i.e. balsamiq, aviary, cacoo, etc.)

Marc then gave a quick demo of these tools of interactive such as Balsamiq, Pixlr, Aviary, Inkscpae and Cacoo. He presented the cool features of each tools and how to start using them.

The remainder of the event was a panel discussion, in which we fielded questions from the audience. The questions kicked off a rich conversation and provided attendees with great information and advice. I remember one of the good questions our attendee asked where Marc provided a good answer as well: Someone asked, “These tools are cool but many companies required web designers to have skills and be good with Industry Standards tools such as Photoshop, Fireworks and Illustrator, do you think company here in PH know these new tools and recognized it, do you think company will still hire me if I am good in using these tools? Marc’s reply was remarkable, he said: “It doesn’t matter which tools you use as long as you are able to deliver the same quality end-result using any tools that you’re comfortable with.”

I believed that this webinar was indeed a success considering a 100% validation from our poll that the webinar was helpful and relevant to the attendees. Among the positive feedback we received: ”Great job on the webinar! See you at part 2! :) thanks!”- tweeted by an attendee. Others commended Marc for the tips and advices he shared–”very inspiring and informative, thanks again!,” said one of the attendees.

We also received several requests for a link to the entire presentation. So we sent out an email to those who attended and missed the webinar with the link to the presentation. You can also check out and download the presentation here.

With the huge success of this webinar, we’ll be coming up with more tech webinars. Help us schedule the next webinar by casting your vote at www.exist.com or leave us a message at the Exist Facebook group for your preferred topics. Stay tuned for more details or follow us @existglobal.

Once again, I’d like to thank everyone who took time out of their schedules to attend. We hope you had gained additional knowledge. Lastly, a big thanks to Marc Caballero for his unwavering support to help his fellow developers and sharing his expertise on web design and development.
